![]() They allow you to play as a Mii character, which I like, but should have been in the main game. Outside of the story, outside of the save files, there are boost rush and challenge modes, which are fun, but can get hard. I have made a challenge of trying to get every star coin, even in the secret levels. It has the best level design out of all of the 'New' games, a free-to-explore map, has new power-ups, the Nabbit chase bonuses, and the game names each of the levels. ![]() The whole thing is fun, but if you've played the three other New Super Mario games, it might be less fresh and new. Four players can have fun platforming and exploring together, while the fifth player uses the GamePad touch screen to defeat enemies and create platforms to boost the players up. ![]() The world map is linear, and each world has a secret level that makes the map somewhat non-linear. It challenges you to get the three star coins in each level. It is very exploration-based, despite being 2D, giving you hidden areas, pipes, secret exits, and 500 seconds on the clock (though each "second" is actually three fourths of a real second, which is dumb). NSMBU is traditinal Mario, and I think it is the best 2D Mario platformer out of all of them. NSMBU and NSLU are great together, and have their differences, but I'll talk about NSLU in another review. ![]()
